how come consumption have gotten such a great part of our daily life? why does it make us feel better? why does it, at many points make us happy?
by consumption we show others who we are, therefore can we, by consumption, exclude ourself from the large group of people which society is. by consumption we make ourself different, because who wants to be homogeneous? no one.
the social status is also easily distinguishable by the things we buy, what we choose to spend our money on. for that reason we achieve corroboration through the medium of buying things. we show others and we prove to ourself that we are different from them. we are someone, somebody else, somebody else who knows better.
besides, society would not work if it were not for the purchases we do every day. and every day we want something, something new and more. this is a fundamental factor in our actual life.
what pleasure do I find in the virtual moment of buying? what has led to me conditioning the process of buying with such a happiness and success? do I associate success with the ones whom only have a large fortune and therefore always have had the possibility to buy things to themselves to such an extent it becomes superfluous? and everyone wants to achieve that, right??
or does this reflect the priorities I have got in my life? and that consumptions has come to the level that it stands for, as a symbol, my way to what I want to achieve in life, and therefore do I enjoy consumption?
or, is it just fun to go shopping? I am just asking.
